How break up sims from being partners or dating on the sims freeplay?

On the sims freeplay for iphone...

I have a few sims who are partners to other sims but I no longer want them sims together. How do you stop them from being partners? Also same for a couple who are dating. I've tried the 'complain' and 'be rude' actions but nothings happening.

This happened to me i wanted to break my sims up and it took me for ages just keep clicked be rude and complain, just keep clicking until something different comes up.How break up sims from being partners or dating on the sims freeplay?
What I am doing is I am telling them to just keep complaining to each other.
