i've been reading and watching The World God Only Knows series for a long time now but i want to know exactly what a "flag" means in those dating games. i've seen that term used in the anime and sometimes in Keima's speechlines. Can anyone explain this? I tried google but can't find it. Also what is a "girl's perimeter" referring to? really confusing..What does a 'flag' in dating sims mean?

For instance, say you have an event early on where you can ask a girl out for ice cream. You might have a flag set to indicate whether you did or didn't go out for ice cream. That way, later on, the girl can respond differently depending on whether or not you went out before. Or, if you went out for ice cream and then dumped the ice cream into her lap, the game would probably flag that so it could remember later that she's mad at you!
Perimeter is not standard usage in the dating sim community so I'm not sure exactly what he means by it, can you give an example in context?
